Trailer: Retro Arcade Adventure (XBLIG, PC)

Marcus Horn of developer SIACTRO has released a new trailer for Retro Arcade Adventure, an upcoming arena-styled action title for Xbox Live Indie Games and PC platforms. Retro Arcade Adventure revels in its 8-bit aesthetic, putting players in control of pixelated heroes who wield oversized, absurdly destructive melee weaponry. As fellow IG editor John Polson notes, the sweeping sword effect recalls From Software’s 3D Dot Game Heroes — cutting massive swaths through the game’s hordes of enemies seems quite satisfying. The XBLIG version of Retro Arcade Adventure will be available soon. A PC version is set to launch later this year.

Carpe Fulgur Releases Fortune Summoners Demo, Full Version Set To Launch This Month

Doujin game localization studio and publisher Carpe Fulgur has released a trial version of its upcoming action-RPG Fortune Summoners , and has set a release date for mid-January. Fortune Summoners is a side-scrolling adventure game in which players control a party of three characters. In addition to possessing a unique combat style (one character is skilled in melee strikes, while others attack using magic spells) each character has a variety of special abilities that must be used to solve puzzles and evade traps in each of the game’s dungeon areas. The full version of Fortune Summoners will be released on January 17th for Gamersgate and Steam, with additional retailers to be announced at a later date. The title will be priced at $25. Carpe Fulgur additionally revealed that its popular item shop RPG Recettear has sold 170,000 units since its launch in September 2010, while its action-RPG follow-up Chantelise sold 50,000 units since its release last July.
