PS3 wins a battle, Xbox 360 the war, Greenberg believes

Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg is not swayed by Sony’s recent price cut and the introduction of the PS3 Slim, he told GameInformer . While he does fully expect Sony to be on top when it comes to units sold in September (NPD data is expected to be released on Monday), he’s confident that at the end of the year, and this generation, Microsoft will be on top. “This is frankly not a real surprise to us or the analysts that follow this industry, as it is typical to see a short term bump following the introduction of new hardware and pricing into the marketplace,” Greenberg said

The future is so bright Sony’s gotta wear sunglasses

While the PSPgo has had a rocky release , not everyone at Sony seems to be sweating. Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, had only positive things to say about the future in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu . Describing the disconnect of having three regional development teams based in America, Japan, and Europe, Yoshida explained that the quality of first party games coming from Sony would not have been possible without a more unified effort between the software and hardware developers

Wii sales boosted by price cut, Fils-Aime says

Speaking with the Financial Times earlier today, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the recent $50 price cut for the Wii has given the console a much needed boost in sales. Echoing previous thoughts from analysts , Nintendo remains optimistic as it nears this holiday season’s retail cage match versus Sony and Microsoft.
