“Handcrafted gameplay” on Mass Effect 2’s uncharted worlds

Feedback on what’s considered one of the biggest faults of the original Mass Effect — the empty, repetitive planets that players got to explore — is something BioWare has said they’ve taken into account in the past. Now, in a recent roundtable discussion, Project Director Casey Hudson has clarified a bit on what to expect on that front in Mass Effect 2 , and the key word appears to be diversity. “… when you find missions out there in the uncharted worlds, there are always missions where something special happens, and you get really good handcrafted gameplay and art that you can’t see elsewhere in the game,” Hudson explained, making it sound like exploration beyond the main storyline will be a worthwhile activity the second time around.

Mass Effect 2’s suicide squad grows by an Asari

BioWare has revealed the fifth potential squad mate players can choose from in Mass Effect 2 , putting us halfway through the reveal of what looks to be the total ten. This latest character, a delightfully subservient blue bombshell of a biotic named Samara, joins the previously revealed Grunt , Subject Zero , Thane , and Tali , who so far remains the only returning character from the first Mass Effect . Samara’s video reveal above comes with some screenshots of her as well.

Mass Effect 2 DLC coming in “all kinds of shapes and sizes”

BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk says they “absolutely” think about putting out downloadable content that’s comparable to the scale of what Bethesda released for Fallout 3 and, during an interview , without going into details said there’s some particular “big thing” they’re planning on releasing.
