E3 is fast approaching and TVGB plans on being there to get the lowdown on everything we can, so in case anyone is looking for me, I have gone to arrange my travel plans. Granted, the expo does not happen until June 15 through June 17, but it is imperative that I make sure space is still available in the local hotels, especially after Nintendo teased their E3 lineup today

The next Wii ‘not just an HD upgrade,’ says Reggie

When it comes to the Wii’s visual quality it seems that Nintendo of America head honcho Reggie Fils-Aime isn’t too concerned , “Over 26 million consumers have bought a Wii, so the consumer is saying that, for them, the quality of the visual is not nearly as important as the overall entertainment – the overall value of that experience and that’s really what’s propelled us.” This is potentially why they’re not rushing new hardware to the factories and not worrying too much about a successor to the Wii in general. When it comes to inevitable new hardware, Fils-Aime made it clear that visuals will not be the only thing getting an upgrade and that the Wii will be getting improvements all around.

Newspaper denies “misinterpreting” Iwata’s DS successor comments

Let’s do a quick recap: Last week a Japanese newspaper, the Asahi Shimbun, had an interview with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and reported him saying that the successor to the Nintendo DS will have “highly detailed graphics, and it will be necessary to have a sensor with the ability to read the movements of people playing.” Less than a week later, Nintendo said the outlet “misinterpreted” the comments made and that “Mr. Iwata did not make any comments regarding the functions of Nintendo’s future hardware systems.” Now the newspaper — one of Japan’s largest and most respected according to Kotaku — has responded to Nintendo’s accusation, saying their reporting was in fact accurate. “The article quoted Nintendo President Satoru Iwata’s comment accurately,” a statement released by the newspaper reads.
